With the new generation of MMOs, whether it be subscrition or microtransactions based, has accepted the very tried and true tactic of posting beautiful women up on their games to sell them to the audience. For one women seem to not care about the matter and the few women who find it offensive are not enough to change anything. Just like with movies and music, putting up good looking people on entertainment works, and it works almost every time. Personal Opinion:
Sorry for being a guy here, but I for one like it as long as the game has substance to back up their sexual marketing tactics. Like the highly anticipated project from the Linage 2 team called Blade and Soul.
But, it's quite sad but when truly bad games try to monopolize on this. Case and point, RF Online. Their new Korean marketing tactic is something as follows:
Korean Model was hired to be the "spokeswoman" of this game. The adds are nice and flashy, but the actual game is quite lack luster, with the environments being flat and having little if any detail.
Anyone else find games that use lame marketing to be something annoying when deciding what to play next?
